john-davis-photo-sml-224x300From Roots to Reality: Expanding Affordable Housing – Burlington VT to West Marin CA with John Emmeus Davis. Including a preview of a documentary-in-progress, Streets of Dreams.

In West Marin, CLAM (the Community Land Trust Association of West Marin) and the Bolinas Community Land Trust offer affordable rentals and home ownership to qualifying individuals and families. Together, they provide homes for more than two dozen people in Bolinas and Point Reyes-Inverness.

Come hear where the Community Land Trust movement came from, how we are making affordable homes happen now, and how we, in West Marin, can collectively pitch in to ensure affordable homes for working people, families, and seniors.

John Emmeus Davis has been a key figure in the Community Land Trust housing movement for 30 years. He was housing director for the city of Burlington, Vermont, which has a robust program of affordable and sustainable housing. He is co-founder of a consulting cooperative that has assisted Community Land Trusts in the United States, Canada, England, Australia, and Belgium.

Streets of Dreams is a series of video portraits of CLTs in communities of color around the U.S. being made by Point Reyes resident Helen Cohen and Mark Lipman of Open Studio Productions.
