Coast Guard Neighborhood
The Coast Guard rehabilitation project is taking steps forward!
The Coast Guard housing project will bring 54 units of housing to Point Reyes Station. The project is a joint venture between CLAM and Eden Housing and aims to reactivate the now-vacant former federal housing site.
CLAM and Eden propose to adapt and improve 15 buildings, provide new resident amenities, and improve the site-wide infrastructure. The 33-acre site also contains sensitive natural space that will be protected through project site improvements to clean water runoff and encourage native species growth.
The project is under environmental review through Marin County Community Development Agency. In addition to evaluation under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA), the proposed site changes must meet current codes and standards. We estimate the process will take 12 months with completion of the review, including public comment, in Summer of 2024.
The project will be funded through a complex combination of low income housing tax credits, bonds, grants, and other affordable housing funding programs. CLAM and Eden Housing secured County funding awards. The Marin County Board of Supervisors has awarded millions in federal, state and local funds to the project. The Marin Community Foundation has also provided substantial funding.
The Coast Guard rehabilitation project is on track to open to our community and beyond in 2027. You canemail us, keep an eye on our website, or subscribe to e-newsletters and social media for more updates. We look forward to helping you find a home in West Marin!
