Thank you to everyone who joined us for a Community Conversation on April 26th! If you missed it or you would like more information on the topics we discussed, scroll down for a recap of the event, with links and ways to follow-up.
Update on CLAM renters during the pandemic
One year ago, CLAM created a rental assistance fund to respond to the increasing financial need our residents were experiencing due to the pandemic. We called it the Resilience Fund. Thanks to an incredible showing of support from CLAM members and donors (plus grants from West Marin Fund and the California CLT Network!), the Resilience Fund provided rental assistance to all CLAM residents who needed it. Thank you community!
Community Housing Solutions
Even while we work to redevelop the former Coast Guard property, it is still our goal to create affordable homes scattered throughout the villages surrounding Tomales Bay: Point Reyes, Olema, Inverness, Inverness Park, Marshall, and Tomales. To achieve this goal, CLAM has created a new umbrella program, Community Housing Solutions. Community Housing Solutions is like a tree with several branches. These branches include:
Bequests: Naming CLAM in your will is a powerful way to invest in the future of our community.
Age-in-place: CLAM can help make aging in place affordable for seniors who want to remain in their home while also offering it to benefit their community.
Real Community Rentals: Create a second unit on your property or convert an existing bedroom into a separate living unit.
Co-housing solutions: Purchase a home with another household or transform your property into a cooperative or other shared ownership situation.
Coast Guard Neighborhood Update
This summer, CLAM will host a Community Engagement Process for the Coast Guard Neighborhood.
Why a Community Engagement Process?
The community’s input about what should happen on this neighborhood will inform the site plan that is drawn up by the architects.
Through this process we will build for ourselves a common understanding of our hopes and vision for this new neighborhood.
The process itself will have 3 bilingual meetings and one Spanish language meeting on-site at the Coast Guard neighborhood this summer. These will begin in either late June or early July and run through August, and will be open to the entire community. We are delighted that these meetings will be co-sponsored by the Pt. Reyes Station Village Association.
We know people have a lot of questions about what is going to happen next, when the homes will be complete, who will live there, and how much income someone needs to make in order to be eligible. We are working right now to get the answers to these questions, and we look forward to sharing as much as we can at the time of the summer meetings.
