Local Measure: Measure W

On November 6, 2018, West Marin voters passed Measure W, which established the West Marin Transient Occupancy Tax, raising taxes on short-term housing such as Airbnbs and Vrbos. In recognition of the impacts of visitors to the area, the increase in the transient occupancy tax approved by the measure will provide funding for enhanced fire/emergency services and long-term community housing. Housing organizations  and their supporters throughout West Marin joined CLAM in advocating for the successful passage of the measure. Though impacted by the drop in short-term housing caused by the pandemic, ultimately the measure is expected to provide about $600,000 per year? in new tax revenue for affordable housing in West Marin.
